aah... an unlimited plan - that explains it.

I doubt we'll be getting something like that in europe anytime soon. The data fees are the real cash-cow lately because competition made the companies lower their voice prices more and more, leaving just data rates and text messaging cost outragously high.

Depending on your mail server buildup, you have multiple options for server side filtering:

- Use Outlook/Exchange as I did. This is probably the easiest to configure, but requires Exchange
- Cyrus has a sieve server included which is plugged into the LMTP transport. So if you are using Cyrus IMAP and deliver via LMTP or cyrus' MDA, you can make use of the sieve facility for which some GUI frontends exist
- If you use Exim to deliver to maildirs or mboxes, you can use Exim's powerful filtering language for which no GUI exists, but which is parsed in-process, sparing you a fork() per message.
- If you use any other combination, you can alyways use procmail.

Should you have questions, feel free to ask, though I have next to no eperience in procmail.

Just as a note, all iPhone plans (with AT&T in the US) come with unlimited data transfer (US$20/month), so the volume of data is not an issue.

Otherwise, i do agree with you about server filtering, I only just transitioned to IMAP, and whilst I do run SpamAssasin it's still configured just to dump it in my INBOX, so I need to fix that and put it in my "Possibly Junk" folder.
